Silicone Thin Coat rendering is made up of a cement based basecoat applied over a number of different masonry or cement board substrates which is reinforced with mesh, this is then finished with a silicone coat. The main system we use is Ecorend SR15 Silicone Thin Coat Render System.
Below is some of the Key Features you get from using this system.
Highly Breathable - This allows moisture in the substrate to escape at the same time as preventing water ingress. This will help to preserve the integrity of the substrate and reduce the risk of dampness.
Highly Flexible/Anti-Crack - This allows for any natural movement in the substrate without damaging the silicone render or cracks forming.
Silicone Water Repellent - With advanced silicone technology, this ensures the finish has great adhesion & weather resistance. This helps to provide long-lasting protection against the elements.
Comes in a range of colours.
What is a Silicone Thin Coat Rendering System?
A Silicone Thin Coat System is made up of 2 main parts.
Part 1 is to install a mesh reinforced basecoat. This is done in 2 layers. In between the 2 layers, a reinforcement mesh is pressed into the first pass. This mesh is to help stop the render cracking.
Part 2: After the basecoat has time to dry out. A primer in a colour matching the silicone finish is applied. After 24 hours, the silicone render is applied. This can be done by hand or machine applied.
